Avoid....: Organ meats, red meat in general, excessive alcohol, and several other things. Cherry juice helps. However, even implementing these, in my opinion the effects are modest and result in life-style changes that can be large. Reducing etoh and not-eating organ meats are good ideas unto themselves. But the majority of people with increased urate: 1/3 under secrete: 1/3 over-produce; and 1/3 both.

Food for thought: Always talk with your physician about your care. Eat liberal amounts of cherries, celery & blueberries. Avoid high purine foods: herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, baker’s yeast, brewer’s yeast, organ meats & roe. Significantly limit fish, meats, shellfish, poultry, asparagus, mushrooms, legumes & spinach. No alcohol use.
