Probably shouldn't..: A gout sufferer should also avoid oysters, calamari, sushi, crabs and scallops. While going off these foods, a gout sufferer is advised to drink a lot of milk and other dairy products. Dairy products help by decreasing the levels of uric acid in the body due to its alkaline nature.

Gout diet: Minimize calamari. Avoid alcohol, animal fats, organ meats, anchovies, sardines, tuna, salmon, and shellfish. Limit other meats to 4 oz/day. Avoid high fructose corn syrup containing drinks and foods. Add egg whites, quinoa, soy as protein. Eat lots of citrus fruit and veggies. Drink 3 L /day.
