Multiple steps: Hand transplants are done attaching the donor bones (usually at the midpoint of lower arm) to the patient bones with plates just as broken bones are treated. Next every individual tendon is reattached. The arteries and veins are conected to each other. Finally the major nerves are sewn together with microsurgical techniques. Finally the skin is closed and the operation is complete.
