Arch support: Look for shoes that have adequate arch support and cushioning. If you need more, add an over-the-counter arch support. Try on a number of shoes, and see what fits and feels best.

Heel lift: A shoe with a heel lift helps. In addition, over-the-counter arch supports might not be adequate. Custom orthotics are always better as they are made exactly to your foot.
