Usually very little: The goal of breast surgery is tumor removal w/clear margins. The "art" of this operation involves removing just enough tissue: too much and you lose the aesthetic benefit of breast conservation; too little necessitates a 2nd operation (re-excision lump-x), likewise worsening the aesthetic result. It can: Removal of a benign tumor requires cutting into br. So any surgery will leave a scar on the breast.. Further if the surgeon is not a specialist he/she may remove more than what is essential and creat a deformity in the size/ shape of the breast. Therefore caution is advised. Perhaps you should consider having surgery done by a plastic surgeon...Who offers possibility of a better cosmetic result.
