Deep cleanings: In dental terminology are referred to as periodontal scaling and root planings. They are significantly more involved than a routine prophylaxis. They take a lot more time to perform and are hence more expensive than a routine cleaning. The cost varies geographically, but regardless of cost, if needed should be performed if you want to save your teeth. I hope you do - life without teeth :(.
