Too Much!: I don't recommend this! most local anesthetics, in experienced hands and under appropriate supervision, can be administered safely and with minimal discomfort.

I would recommend : At least having local anesthetic injections which only sting when they go in. Unless the tooth is extremely loose, i would expect extraction it to hurt without any anesthesia at all.

No anesthetic?: Depending upon the degree of difficulty of the tooth requiring extraction and a person's pain threshold, the pain may be extreme to negligible.

Why ?: The slight discomfort from getting the injection is much less than what you could feel. Have the anasthetic.

Discuss with Dentist: This question would be one for your dentist. The ability to do this would depend greatly on your tolerance for pain. Local anesthesia would be one option to help with the pain. Personally i wouldn't do it without something.

A Lot!: Unless your tooth is wiggling in the breeze, you should have some form of local anesthitic to take the tooth out.
