Sympathectomy: Thoracic sympathectomy is the procedure to cut the "sympathetic nerve" fibers coming out of the spine at the level of t2-t3 (second and third thoracic vertebrae). The nerve fibers usually cross over the second, third, & fourth ribs near the spine. Some doctors are using an endoscope to do this procedure, which would leave almost no surgical scar. The same procedure stops excessive hand sweating.

Be more specific: If you want a real answer. You need to give us some idea about what your condition is and what you've already been told. That said, for many conditions, surgery is the "conservative" treatment option vs waiting and watching or medical (i.e., nonsurgical) treatment.

Possible: Depends on the surgery andcondition of the ms. Ms affets sensory and motor neurological symptoms and it may be resonable that if surgery is perform in an area the MS affects the tissue may not respond as well as othe areas not affected. But there may be additional causes for your poor response and may not always be attributted to the ms.

A 23-year-old female asked:
What type of surgical procedures exist that will make eyelids symmetrical?
2 doctor answers • 4 doctors weighed in

Dr. Robert Kwokanswered
Pediatrics 33 years experience
Plastic surgery: There are not surgical procedures that would make a person's eyelids perfectly symmetrical (perfection doesn't exist in real life). However, plastic surgeons can make a smaller lids opening larger, make a double eyelid fold if there is a single fold, tighten a lower eyelid if the lid margin is drooping away from the eyeball, etc... Plastic surgery is an art, so results may differ among surgeons.
