A member asked:

I have a herniated disc on my upper shoulder blade. is surgery really going to fix it permanently?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: There are no "discs" in your shoulder blade. A degenerative joint or disc in the neck can refer pain to the shoulder blade. A pinched nerve in your neck or upper back can also cause pain near the shoulder blade. There are many non-surgical options to consider before surgery including medication, physical therapy, and injections. Discuss these options with your md.
