AFO: An ankle-foot-orthosis (afo) is a brace that can allow you to bear weight and ambulate off the drop foot. These are provided by certified orthotists, on prescription of your orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist. It helps correct, but does not cure the problem.

Nothing but wait: The sciatic nerve peroneal division governs foot drop. If the nerve was just bruised or stretched it may spontaneously wake up. Otherwise, you will have to wait for regeneration, which takes 1 day for every mm of nerve growth needed, or 1000 days for 3 feet.
