Unilateral Swelling: Studies show that unilateral swelling has a large differential diagnosis which includes lymphedema and obstruction of venous return. The lymphatic and venous drainage of the upper and lower extremities are separate so your MD may entertain a diagnosis of congenital lymphedema. Imaging will be paramount in determining the anatomical cause of any obstruction, and a full H&P including family history
