Two different things: Overbite is the extent of vertical overlap of the maxillary central incisors over the mandibular central incisors. Normal range is 2-3 mm. Overjet is the horizontal distance between the maxillary anterior teeth and the mandibular anterior teeth. Normal range is 2-3 mm.

2-3 mm.: Normal overjet is 2-3 mm and a normal overbite is 20%. This means that the upper teeth in the front are 2-3 mm in front of the lower front teeth. Overbite is the vertical distance of the upper teeth over the lower teeth. A normal overbite has 20% of the lower teeth covered by the upper front teeth.
