Orthodontics: You will need to be evaluated by an orthodontist. There are different degrees of overbite and overjet and if they are severe they can be corrected with orthodonticts. Early diagnosis is helpful as it is easier to correct these problems while patients are still growing.

Braces +/- surgery: It depends on the extent of the overbite, the anatomy fo the jaw and the patients desires. For some, orthodontic treatment may be all that is needed. Others may need corrective jaw surgery called orthognathic surgery in conjunction with braces. Finally, some minor cosmetic issues can be treated with crowns or veneers.

Overbite/overjet: Correction depends on first determining the cause of the malocclusion, then determining what needs to be done to normalize relationships, and finally what appliance would produce the optimum result. As malocclusions are like snowflakes (no two are alike) see an Orthodontic Specialist for an Initial Examination (usually free) and discussion of your needs.
