What're the cons of extracting 4 teeth to fix an overbite / overjet?

Extraction Cons: If you extract 4 teeth to fix an excess overjet then you have to close all the space. If the front teeth come back too far then the face can look caved in. So you have to be sure that the front teeth don't go back too much. Also, the spaces that are closed after removing teeth will have a tendency to reopen so wearing a well fitted retainer will be important.

Losing teeth: Sometimes teeth have to be sacrifice to make space. Never like to have healthy teeth removed sometimes no choice.

Break in alignment: Removing teeth results in break in arch integrity. But sometimes there is no choice. In cases of severe crowding, or severe protrusion, there just may not be enough bone to support a full compliment of permanent teeth. That's why orthodontists have at least 2 full years of full time specialty training after completing dental school, just so they can make this type of diagnosis & rx plan.
