Depends: It is not unusual to notice a lump over your surgical site after a repair of a hand fracture. This is usually part of the normal inflammatory response. If it has been a while and you can still feel your hardware, you need to decide how much it bothers you. Occasionally, if there is palpable hardware, some surgeons will go back to remove it if it is causing problems.
