ASAP See Dentist: Severe pain needs immediate care. Only temporarily use something like tylenol (acetaminophen). Any anti-inflammatory medication can help. Aleve, motrin, advil & even a holistic alternative arnica. Ice to minimize swelling can also be helpful. Only for managing the pain... I agree with the other doctors. Please see a dentist to help you resolve the issue which is causing you pain. Make an appointment asap please.

Not a lot: Tooth pain means the infection in the tooth is spreading. You can't fix this, you need professional help. Advil/motrin/ibuprofen taken exactly as directed on the package, and cold compresses, may take the ege off (but not fix the problem) until you see your dentist. Don't wait, go now!

Ibuprofen: Taking general analgesics like ibuprofen, tylenol, (acetaminophen) or Aspirin are the best ways to manage dental related pain while waiting to see a dentist for more definitive answers. Do not put an Aspirin near the root of a tooth on your gum tissue--it will cause irritation and tissue trauma. The medicine will work the same way if you swallow it.
