Swelling/discharge: Fever persistent, unrelentig pain, swelling, discharge may all be related to a post-operative infection. Don't hesitate...See your dentist/oral surgeon to have it evaluated...Asap.

Infection: Infections can be a side-effect of any surgical procedure. There are many signs to watch for but increased temperature, swelling after a 3-5 days, pain, and puss are possible signs, but ultimately you will need to go back to the doctor to be evaluated for infection.

Swelling and pain: Increasing rather than decreasing post op discomfort coupled with swelling and tenderness in your lymph nodes are all indicative of possible infection. Often, antibiotics are given post-op to prevent this. A bad taste or odor may also be signs of possible infection. Return to the surgeon for evaluation if you have any of these symptoms.
