My boyfriend had a big bit on his ankle. he itched and now his ankle and foot are totally swollen. what should we do?

He needs to see MD: He probebly has a cellulitis infection due to the bite.He should see his doctor asap or go to the emergency dept, as hamay need antibiotics if that is the case.

See MD: This might represent an infection of the bite or progression of the reaction to the bite itself. Before it progresses i would see your primary care doctor.

Incomplete info: Does he have fever, redness, tenderness, break in skin? Can he put weight on that foot? If he does not have any of the signs listed above and can put weight on the food, he may take pain meds, like ibuprofen, elevate the foot, may use warm compress. If it does not start resolving in a couple of days it would be prudent to see his doctor.
