Suppressed emotions: Early psychoanalytic theories postulate that one cause of anxiety & tension is repressed emotions which are transformed into somatic symptoms.

Yes: Emotions triggered by stress that are not expressed (and even if they are!) can show up as anxiety, stomach pain and headaches, to name a few symptoms. If a person is dealing with chronic stress, then a counselor or psychotherapist can be very helpful.
