A member asked:

Why does a patient need to be shaved before an operation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: If the area that will be operated on contains hair, it needs to be shaved prior to surgery to reduce the risk of infection, skin irritation, ingrown hairs, and foreign body (hair) getting into the wound. All of these can cause complications.
