Natural Hx: Is extended. If there is a deletion of portions of chromsome 1 and 19, chemotherapy may further improve odds. Individual survivl is never known, the median survival is 7 years.

Research: The median survival for patients with a diagnosis of an oligodendroglioma is 9.8 years (reference: journal of neuro-oncology 31: 273–278, 1997). However, with new genetic testing, it is clear that patients who have a genetic finding of a deletion in chromosome 1 and 19 have a longer survival (reference: cancer. 2012 sep 15;118(18):4368).
