Yes: You could step off the side and hurt yourself on the treadmill. Get an audiobook to avoid the risk.

Not bad.: It's not technically bad, but you may get a headache trying to read while bouncing up and down, and you may actually fall off the treadmill if you're not paying attention to your stride.
