A member asked:

What causes calcium build up in the eye - causing yellowish spots? can anything be done about it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Band keratopathy: Calcium deposition in the eye occurs primarily in the cornea leading to a condition called band kerstopathy. Usually a result of chronic inflammation, repeated injury, chronic glaucoma, complicated surgical repairs as in retinal reattachment surgery using silicone oil. Fewer cases involve abnormalities of calcium-phosphorous metabolic disorders, multiple myeloma, & other. Treat: tears ; chelation.
