Close observation: Optic disc drusen is not curable and can cause other problems. I like to treat my patients with glaucoma drops to keep the intraocular pressure low, and i like a neuro-protective medication. That said, there is no studies to support this treatment protocol, of which I am aware. With your occupation, i would recommend an evaluation by a neuro-ophthalmologist.

Optic disc drusen: Optic nerve head drusen are visible during an eye examination, and in some cases may cause some loss of peripheral vision. Visual field testing and optical coherence tomography can determine the extent of any problem, and then can be monitored over time. These tests can be performed by an ophthalmologist. Sometimes disc drusen are associated with retinal problems, but not macular degeneration.
