Yes, BUT: Pain with shingles can be excruciating. A 160 pound man usually requires 7.5 - 10 mg of hydrocodone for 6-8 hours of pain relief. Ask your doc for a stronger hydrocodone rx (7.5-500 or 10/500)since taking double on the tylenol (acetaminophen) (500) can start to bother the stomach.

Increasing the dose: Very complicated without knowing the age and the weight. The best way to proceed is to ask the prescribing physician if he can increase the dose of he could add something else to the combination.
