Oxygen need: If you have shortness of breath frequently and your pulmonary function tests reveal a fev1/fvc ratio as significantly low, then you should talk to your doctor about doing a home pulse oximetry test. As a screening your doctor may want to do a 6 minute walk test in the office. Doing your own oximetry is generally discouraged.
