Echocardiogram: The echo is an ultrasound of the heart and allows one to assess the valve function and performance and the magnitude of pathology of mitral valve prolapse. It takes about 30 minutes, it doesn't hurt, and is completely safe. It also allows onr to see how the rest of the heart is performing, whether there has been damage to the heart muscle or if there are other valves are not working right.

Simple test : An echocardiogram is a specialized ultrasound examination of the heart. There are 2 types. The majority of echos are done by placing a water based gel on your chest and a probe is placed on the skin. We can see the function if the heart. We can also look at the valves, chambers and for holes in the heart. It takes about 15 minutes and requies no needles.
