A member asked:

Could bunions cause problems with entire foot?

Yes they can: Bunions can be large and painful enough to affect the fit of shoes, making them uncomfortable and changing how you walk. Also, the big toe joint can be out of alignment, altering your walking pattern. Severe cases of bunions can cause the big toe to overlap or underlap with the 2nd toe, affecting its alignment and function.

Sometimes: Bunions can cause crowding in shoes which can irritate other foot structures. Also, the mechanics of the foot which contribute to bunion formation will often be associated with other foot issues such as heel pain, pronation and arch collapse.
