Sure : While most common in the foot, it can happen virtually anywhere. More common in extremities as these are generally cooler and gout crystallizes. Definately can occur in the hands.

Yes: Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by the buildup of uric acid. It often collects in the joints or soft tissues. While the foot and ankle are the most common sites for gout, it can happen elsewhere- hands, wrists, elbows, even the nose and ear cartilage!

Gout hand: Most certainly. Sudden hot red swollen painful joint, often confused for an infection. Non steroidal anti-inflammatries such as Indocin (indomethacin) are great acutly and work up and medicationfo rgout to follow. You can have a normal uric acid though even with a severe gouty attack.
