Everybody's goal: Painless child delivery is a "holy grail" of a lot of people. It's very difficult. The traditional way would be a spinal or epidural catheter. This carries inherent risks, and an anesthesiologist can explain. Some use imagery, hypnosis, and other "natural" ways. Some of these really do help, but unfortunately after many years i've never seen totally pain free.

Not sure if there is: A "painless" delivery, but studies looking at patient satisfaction with pain relief during vaginal delivery typically rate labor epidurals as providing the most pain relief.
