Gone Forever!: The gallbladder is the gallstone factory--removing it will prevent gallstone formation. Once in a blue moon, stones can form in the bile ducts that connect the liver to the intestine. This is so rare that one need not be concerned.

No: The reason for getting gallstones is a combination of having a gallbladder with irritated lining, infection and imbalance in the chemical composition of your bile. Once the gall bladder is removed you no longer have the first part of the problem and your bile becomes dilute. You may still form them in the bile duct which is much different.
