My grandma has gallstones and had to have her gallbladder removed. can it be from years of drinking and chocolate all the time? she just drinks one glass of wine sometimes. she is 87 should she stop the drinking and chocolate?

Risk factors for gallstones include female gender, older age, genes, pregnancy, diabetes, high cholesterol, certain medications, cirrhosis, Crohns disease, spinal cord injury, and high bilirubin. Certainly there are protective and preventive factors as well such as exercise, vitamin C, coffee, food low in saturated fats and high fiber and calcium. At age 87, she should focus on a happy lifestyle.
