ASAP: They usually want you to go back in 3 - 6 months after the abnormal pap smear, but sometimes up to a year is ok. Go asap.

See your doctor: If you had an abnormal pap test last year, you should definitely see your doctor this year. Your doctor's office should be able to tell you when they want to see you for follow-up, as it depends on what exactly your pap test showed. More concerning things require closer follow-up.
