How easy it is to fix partial denture?

13 doctors weighed in across 7 answers

Perhaps: Many times a partial denture can be fixed. If it is the plastic or tooth areas...Not too bad. If it is the framework or a clasp...Still possible but harder. If it is the main body or connector do the partial maybe but in that case...It may be goodbye.See what a dentist thinks and if you aren't happy with the answer...Try a second opinion.

Partial denture: It depends on what is broken on the partial denture. If a tooth came out it is a easy, quick repair. If the metal framework is broken or a clasp is broken that is more involved. Depending on how extensive the problem is ask your dentist and it may be more cost effective to have a new one made.

Depends: If the acrylic (plastic) part is broken, then it is a quick and easy fix. However, if the metal frame work or clasp are broken, then this is more involved. Usually the denture will need to be sent back to the lab to be repaired. If it is beyond repair and does not fit well, then a new partial denture may have to be made.

It depends: An evaluation by a dentist would provide the best answer.

Depends on break: If the partial denture only has a small break in the acrylic, it can often be repaired very easily in the office in one visit. If the framework is fractured, it will usually need to be sent out to a dental lab for repair. Keep smiling !

Partial repair: Partial repair is easily done if just the plastic is broken...Usually the same day. If the metal clasps are broken then it will take longer. If your partial is older than 8 years, typically a new one needs to be made.

Would not : Recommend trying to repair them yourself. Best to be seen by a dentist who can have it professionally repaired. Hope this helps.
