I had stitches on my chin. how can i keep from getting an ugly scar?

Depends.: Careful prep of the tissues before repair, meticulous layered closure, fine sutures not tied too tightly or left in too long, ultraviolet avoidance for 6-12 months (or until scar fades), and scar gels or pads all can help to give you the best result. But the first three factors listed are already out of your control and certainly your genetics of healing are pre-determined, so only time will tell!
