Many things: If it's a true keloid, it's a disease of healing and simple removal will result in a rapid return and probably worse. Pressure, radiation, steroid injections and some types of chemotherapy all work to some extent, and there are times for each of them. For example, earlobe keloids in african americans, i generally excise followed by treatment with chemo (5fu) steroid combo. Very effective.
