Keloids: Cortisone injections (intralesional steroids): these are safe and not very painful. Injections are usually given once per month until the maximum benefit is obtained. Injections are safe (very little steroid gets into the bloodstream) and usually help flatten keloids.

Excise or injection: Injections can make keloids smaller, and excising them may trade them for a normal scar, but there is a 50% recurrence rate.Radiation treatments can reduce the recurrence rate.

Keloid treatments: There are a number of ways to attempt to treat keloids. These include compression, silicone gel sheeting, steroid injection, direct excision, and radiation therapy. Often when a single modality is not effective a combination of therapies can be used, such as surgical excision with steroid injection and post-operative compression.

Laser Scar Removal: Using the latest laser technology, the beam of the laser penetrates the pores of the skin, smoothing the deep layers of the skin and improving the skin tone. Unless viewed under the microscope, the miniscule penetration of the laser is not visible to the naked eye. For this reason, there is a very short recovery time, results are immediate, and the skin will heal in a matter of 1 to 3 days.
