Not much: Generally swallowing small amounts of toothpaste will have no effect. Swallowing flouride alone during a flouride treatment can cause temporary nausea.

How much ?: The amount of tooth paste swallowed is the question. Small amount of tooth paste can be harmless but excess amount of it could cause nausea and other medical problems.

Usually nothing: If you accidentally swallow a little bit of Fluoride toothpaste now and again nothing bad happens. It is only a problem to swallow large amounts over a long period of time. Young children who do not yet know how to relialbly rinse and spit are the only ones at risk for this kind of exposure.
