Depends: Most bacterial pneumonia arises from common germs already in the respiratory tract & are not easily transferred. Some viral pneumonias are less selective & could pass as easily as a cold.Proximity of exposure along with duration in minutes/hours etc all contribute to ease of pasage.

Depends: Depends on how virulent the strain of organism that causes the pneumonia is, and how close of a contact you have had with the sick person. If you have moderate to severe asthma, you are more likely to get pneumonia than the average person. Watch for fever, chills, colored phlegm and asthma exacerbation, and have low threshold on getting checked. Get the flu and pneumonia vaccines. Good luck!
