Why has my breathing gotten very difficult? could it be a sign of pneumonia? it's not my asthma because my inhalers were unhelpful.

Still maybe asthma: I think you should seek medical help immediately. If the inhalers are not working, this is usually not good. It may still be your asthma acting up or something else, you need to be evaluated. If there is no doctor you can reach, head to the emergency room.

Maybe: A person with asthma can worsen for many reasons, a lung infection like pneumonia is one. Severe asthma attacks may be less responsive to inhalers, this does not mean that asthma is not responsible, just that the airway inflammation is bad enough that it needs additional therapy plus the inhalers. Someone with this problem needs to seek medical attention, and if severe symptoms should go to the er.
