Around a long time: Mph was developed in the 1950's and first studied in what we now call adhd in 1961. It has been used mostly for adhd but also for certain sleep disorders since. Its use has varied over the years, as has belief in adhd as a "real" disorder. It is a stimulant and can be abused. Used appropriately, it can be highly beneficial in reducing adhd symptoms, but it does not cure the disorder.
