ADHD medication: Methylphenidate (mph), the 1st prescription medication used for adhd (attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity), came out in the 1950's as ritalin (methylphenidate). A psychostimulant, it works on neurotransmitters in the brain. Since then, it has been improved upon: -concerta (long-acting mph) -focalin (single isomer mph) -daytrana (mph patch) + other forms. Side effects: appetite suppression, insomnia.
