Mineral deficiency?: Cramping that prevents bowel movements may be caused by mineral deficiencies, esp. Magnesium deficiency, but possibly calcium or potassium. It could also be related to chronic constipation. Parasites or other infections are also possible. You might try magnesium citrate or glycinate, but this also is deserving of evaluation by your regular doctor (or a GI specialist if you don't have a family doc).
