Find thecause: You should not be taking pain medication 3 yrs after hernia surgery. First try to find out the cause, like small recurrence, nerve entrapment etc.

Combo: May want to try one week of steroids (med roll dose pack) followed by 3 weeks of naprosyn (naproxen) and use myoflex cream topically along with heat and ice in a trial and error fashion. See your doctor for advice and prescriptions. If its bad enough, go to a pain management clinic, and some cases require operation to resect the nerves on the area or rarely remove the mesh.
