Stress reduction: Often one of the causes of TMJ is stress. The benzodiazepine reduces your anxiety and stress and also helps you sleep better at night so that your joints can heal.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.

Benzodiazapines: There is evidence that demostrates that the benzodiazepine Clonazepam is effective in reducing sleep bruxism which is thought to be a major factor in TMJ pain and dysfunction. This could be why this medication was prescribed for you.

Only remedy?: I was wondering if you were given the benzodiazepine as the only line of defense for you for your tmd/tmj? If so, then treating the symptom and not the cause is not the way to go. If it does help against the grinding at night, great! but be aware of and consider other remedies that do not include meds.

Muscle relaxer: A stong muscle relaxant. Only use it very short term since it can be habituating. Usually very effective.
