A member asked:

Will taking antibiotics after an untreated strep throat recovers still be enough to prevent the complications?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on situation: You have about 9 days from the first fever of a strep infection to begin the antibiotics that would stop most complications. Some complications like the occasional kidney disease (psgn) may occur within 7 days of the initial fever so it is a bit more difficult to stop unless treated early.
