Be patient: The material you see is just debris and will shed over time with resumption of better feeding activity/roughage ingestion. The less you tinker with the area the less likely you are to introduce other germs into the already irritated area, some of which will not be killed off by an antibiotic you are using.An abscess could form requiring urgent surgical decompression.
