A few hours: Generally speaking, after wisdom tooth surgery, bleeding lasts a few hours. It can be controlled by firmly biting on cotton gauze. The bleeding may be brisk at first, but should slow down with firm pressure.

Tea bag: Moisten a standard (black tea like lipton, not herbal tea) tea bag and firmly hold it or bite it against the area of bleeding for 15 minutes. If you do not have significant improvement, call your dentist immediately.
