Surgeons call: Some bleeding is of course normal. This is why you need to ask your surgeon what you should expect. Direct pressure is always the best way to stop bleeding, use some gauze to bite gently and put direct pressure on the area. A moist tea bag held on the area can sometimes enhance the effect.

Black tea bags: If you ran out of gauze from your dentist then you can try dampened black tea bags. The bleeding should not be excessive and if it is after a few hours you should contact your dentist for further instructions.
