If it is on : One side, i would consider a clot as a cause. Swelling of lower extremity is not uncommon in these types of surgery. Elevation of extremities is important.

Clot: The number one concern after joint replace my with the condition you describe would be the present of a blood clot. Even though you have likely received medication to prevent blood clots they are not 100 percent effective. Seek care and potentially need an ultrasound to evaluate for a clot.
